The International Conference on the EU Cybersecurity Act

2021 EU Cybersecurity Act Conference

March 24, 2021

I had the pleasure to speak at the March 2021 EU Cybersecurity Act Conference on the EU Cybersecurity Ecosystem.

The International Conference on the EU Cybersecurity Act has been developed to help the standards community prepare for the evolution of risk-based frameworks meant to address market fragmentation in the EU.

“The purpose of the presentation will be to give an overview of the ecosystem for Cybersecurity and the related policy framework in the European Union and illustrate the mechanisms of interaction between the various institutions and their interrelationships. We will present an analysis of the industrial and regulatory policies in the next 3 to 5 years alongside the major investment directions and projects at the EU level and key European countries. We will explain how these frameworks relate to the Paris call for Trust and Security and present the guidelines, strategy, and criteria defining cybersecurity frameworks, where they are different, and where they overlap. We will take a forward-looking view of policy impact and analysis by addressing their likely evolution in the future, together with perspectives and key trends within the next 3 to 5 years. We will address the common principles that are governing Cybersecurity and how they are interrelated. As part of our analysis, we will describe how EU member States apply particular directives and frameworks to their specific environment and the cooperation groups that exist between EU member states to cooperate and exchange information. From an investment perspective, we will present the major security investments from top players across major industries and sectors and the investments in new technologies that are taking place to develop the next generation of cyber defense and capabilities. The presentation will help to understand better the European Cybersecurity Ecosystem and the related policy framework in Cybersecurity.”
